Privacy Policy

This explains what Tally collects, why, and what you can do about it. Tally is run as a sole proprietorship based in Virginia, USA.

Two kinds of data, and the difference matters

Public channel data.We scan Twitch's public API roughly every 30 minutes and record which channels are live, their viewer counts, and what they're playing. We do this for channels across Twitch, whether or not anyone has a Tally account. From it we work out average viewers, peak, stream frequency, and the hours someone typically streams. None of it is private — it's what anyone could see by looking at Twitch at that moment.

Account data. If you sign in, we also hold what you give us directly.

What we hold about account holders

• Your Twitch user ID, username, display name, and profile picture
• Your email address, from Twitch, used for account matters only
• Your date of birth, to confirm you're 18 or over
• Your bio, games, tags, schedule note, Discord handle, and chosen clips
• Who you've liked, passed, matched with, and blocked
• Messages you send through Tally
• Reports you file or that are filed about you

Why we hold it

• To match you with suitable streamers — the core of the service
• To show your profile to other users
• To keep people safe: age checks, blocks, and reports
• To operate and improve the service
• To take payment, if you subscribe

We don't sell your data, and we don't run advertising.

Who else sees it

• Other userssee your public profile: name, picture, observed stats, schedule, bio, tags, and clips. They do not see your email, date of birth, or who else you've liked.
• Twitch, because we read their API and you sign in through them.
• Our hosting provider, which stores the database on our behalf.
• A payment processor, if you subscribe. Card details go to them, never to us.
• Law enforcement, where we're legally required to hand something over.

How long we keep it

Raw scan observations are deleted after 35 days. The summarised per-channel stats built from them are kept while the channel exists. Account data is kept until you delete your account.

Deleting your account removes your profile, likes, matches, and messages. Your channel's public streaming stats remain in our scan data, because we collected those independently and they aren't tied to your having had an account.

Your choices

• Edit or clear your profile fields at any time
• Delete your account from Settings
• Revoke Tally's access from your Twitch connections page
• Block or report anyone
• Ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or delete it

If you're in the EU, UK, California, or somewhere with similar rules, you have rights to access, correct, delete, and object to our use of your data. Contact us and we'll act on it.

Security

Connections are encrypted. Login tokens are stored hashed, not in readable form. We never see or store your Twitch password. No service is perfectly secure, and we can't promise otherwise.

Children

Tally is for people 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If we learn that we have, we delete the account and its data.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy we'll update the date above and, for anything significant, tell you in the app. To ask about your data, contact us at the address on our site.
